Grande Cariçaie

On the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, the marshy area of the Grande Cariçaie is home to 119 wooden chalets, once fishermen’s huts, now modest secondary villas. Due to a vast project to preserve this natural area, these lake dwellings are now condemned to disappear.

Vestiges of another time, waiting for their dismantling or conservation, these chalets built on stilts testify the fragility and ephemeral nature of human constructions. The framing of this series of photographs shows these chalets blending into the vegetation, either peacefully integrating into it or threatened to be swallowed up. When the human presence disappears, how long does it take for nature to regain its rights?
